The time card machine blinks itself twice to me in a silent nod hello.

Across the line there’s a stack of five shutes where the paper comes out. They’re stacked vertically, one on top of the other in a way that when the paper comes simulaneously sliding out of each one it’s like trying to look through shudders. To see more you have to move your body up and down. sneaking peaks where you can.

The thought of….wrangles my soul.

I get to her and she holds out her hand, it’s an awkward half handshake until she opens her palm to reveal the folded directions.

They say it’s better to live in the best house on the worst street than the other way around. Bridget seemed to take this half to heart as her apartment building was the only one of its kind. Surrounded by the likes of old factory ghosts, the place gives off an eerie quality, as though the last station before the end of the world watching transfixed as the broken skeletons of industry advanced towards it.
